Wow! A movie based on someone's life doesn't feature the absolute,
unblemished truth?
I'm SHOCKED!
Whatever.
BTW, I saw this today. It was... ok. I'd rent it on DVD just to watch
Viggo some more.

Catherine Johnson, who thought the whole "kidnapping the princess" subplot
was just lame.

Um, it's pure fiction. It's not based on a true story.

Hopkins was NOT half-Native American.

Hopkins was never a part of Buffalo Bill Cody's show.

Hopkins never went to Arabia.

There's no such thing as the Great Beduin Race.

In fact, there's no evidence Hopkins ever knew how to ride a horse!

Yes I have. I'm SAG Film Society - I often get to see movies a few weeks
prior to release, in fact.

Nice try.

There's a difference between honest-to-God history and great entertainment. I
mean, you have to have artistic integrity with any movie. If people want the
true story, watch a documentary. There's a really good one about it on the
History Channel now from what my brother told me.

My mom and brother want to see the film too. And you're not the only one who
wants to watch him more. My sister loves Viggo Mortensen ever since she saw the
first LOTR movie. I guess she likes rugged lookin' guys (of course, I never
knew this).

Yeah, but the movie is still awful ANYWAY. If you're going to make something
up...

It took the worst parts of Black Beauty and The Last Samurai and smooshed
them together. What else do you expect from John Fusco and Joe Johnston,
though?

Yes, they'll probably repeat it at some point, I imagine. Judging from
their research, there apparently actually *was* a person named Frank
Hopkins.

You know, if I'm any actor involved with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I'd take

A few of the LotR actors are in movies this year, actually... Bloom did
Pirates and is in the upcoming _Ned Kelly_. Wood is in _The Eternal
Sunshine of a Spotless Mind_, and Astin is in... _50 First Dates_, I think
Some comedy like that...
I think some actors just like acting... ^_^

What about the lesser-known actors from the trilogy? I'd think they ought
to strike while the iron is hot, because it almost certainly will never
be that hot again.

Um, New Line isn't saying LOTR is based on a true story. In fact, one Disney

they're not going to change the "Based on a true story" tag.

The funny thing is, DD:HN is supposed to take place before the events of
the first DD, but Swayze looks much older, so in the credits he's listed
simply as "Visiting Dance Instructor".
